Welcome back!!!

Welcome Back Staff!!! We have been up and running for 3 weeks and hopefully the children are well adjusted now!

As you know we have some new apps that we will be implementing in the classrooms this year. (1) Remind-app used by individual teachers to get information out to your own parents only and (2) Fire prevention app-information for classroom activities for children (email was sent out from Tange).  We will continue viewing the Webinars from Frogstreet and Video trainings from NCQTL and ECLKC (Teacher Time and Front Porch Series). Please visit these sites as often as possible-can be viewed individually or as a group!

Blogs will be added on Tuesday once a week-(unless something gets in the way), I will try to have important information as it comes available-trainings, updates, news, new ideas, etc.

If you have information that you want to share with your colleagues please feel free to add to the blog page, we are team!!

Happy Blogging!!!

Hello Staff,
As you know we have a field trip planned for 5th-7th of May.  If you want to do a picnic lunch at the Aquarium--please let me know ASAP.  The Aquarium needs to schedule a time for your center--first come first served and it's only for 30minutes. If you want McDonalds there are two near the center.

We will meet one day next week and iron out all the details!!
In the meantime, be sure to look at the webpage for the VA Aquarium & Marine Science Center and see what types of sea creatures and plant life your children will be learning about.

Happy Blogging!!!

Great Job

Good Morning Ladies!!!
Just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for a job well done on your group projects!!  You shared a wealth of information with your fellow colleagues.

We shall do this again real soon with a slightly different spin- I think I will allow the teacher assistants ONLY to demonstrate some of their talents and skills!!!

So be on the lookout for the next project.  Don't forget to view one video on "Teacher Time" once a week.  I will be posting the next video to view or the next webinar to sign up for. I'll try to have that information posted by tomorrow and you will have all of next week to watch!!

So until the next time....enjoy your day off!!!

Happy Blogging!

Project

Good Morning all!!!

Here we go!!!

As you know over the years Head Start has introduced and implemented many initiatives and we have done them alllllll.  To name a few: (1) Steps to Success (2) Mentor Coaching (3) I'm Moving I'm Learning (IMIL) (4) High Five Mathematize (5) STEPS (6) Tell me a Story-Project of Family Connections (7) Fatherhood/Male Involvement (8) Picturing America and many others - some I can't even remember the names of.

Sometimes we tend to stray away from some of the good ideas that most of these initiatives offer....so we are going to do a refresher course for three!

Your assignment is as follows:

  • Hare Valley you will complete a 10-15 minute lesson using Picturing America-as if you were working with your class--have all your supplies needed for this project. Your colleagues are your children.
  • ESECHDC  you will complete a 10-15 minute lesson using High Five Mathematize  if you have no idea of where your book is-you may borrow mine.  Your colleagues are your children. Have all your supplies needed for this project.
  • Hallwood  you will complete a 10-15 minute lesson using IMIL-I'm moving, I'm learning. Your colleagues are your children. Have all your supplies needed for this project.
You have creative freedom on how you will present to the group.

Oh yea....be sure to show us how your project aligns to our School Readiness Goals and if your group is an "overachiever" you can also share with us how it aligns with Head Start Performance Standards.

Your presentations will be completed at our Staff Development Day-Friday January 16th. You will have planning time in the morning to iron out the "bugs". You will present in the afternoon.

This message will "self-destruct" in 15 seconds!! lol lol

Good Luck and Thank you for accepting this assignment....
